Unbranded Brand … When we met Brandon, Naked & Famous’ founder, he showed us his discount selvedge line. He never hid the fact these were manufactured in China, but with quite a few nice details nevertheless: riveted back pockets, break points, chain stitch hems, etc. Problem was, the brand was not being distributed in France.
Things have changed a bit since, as BonneGueule brought them over and found a boutique to distribute them. And not any which one, as it happens to be Ly Adams :)
In fact, Ly Adams became immediately very interested in distributing the pants and thus they became the only French retail outlet for this brand. For 90 €, you obtain a pair of raw jeans with an unbeatable quality/price ratio:
The virgin label, which symbolizes the brand’s will to center its efforts only on the product, by banning the slightest hint of hype.
Same for the jeans insides, not branded either.
A handsome hem with a very visiblechain stitch.
Finishing touches are very well done, considering the price.
Nice! How‘s the cut?
It’s quite a classic cut, halfway between a semi slim and a straight cut (a "semi semi-slim"?). Judge for yourselves with Geoffrey’s photos:
We are testing here model UB 201.
(yes, the hem had not been made yet)
Pounce on them if your thighs are a bit on the strong side, this cut being perfectly adapted for this body type.
By the way, we came out with the tees last Friday, and it took you guys not even 24 hours to pillage all of our modest production. We are going to issue them again soon! In the meantime, the first batch was shipped this very morning.
How do these jeans age?
For whatever reason, they wash out very quickly and very well. 3 or 4 months later you’ll have beautiful whiskers around the fly area.
A single point of caution: be careful not to turn your shoes or your t-shirts blue when first wearing them, as these bleed quite a bit early on. This is something normal on raw jeans, but Unbranded Brand does that more than others do. So do not hesitate to wash them once or twice to mitigate the problem.
That being said, look at what you can have for 90 € and a few intensive wear sessions
Stronger than a Rick Owens or a Prps, cheaper than an APC.
The fold marks at the knees and fly are magnificent.
More of an amateur picture, jeans as nice as ever.
Baptiste, the BonneGueule’s webmaster, Unbranded photographs:
The chain link hem, very visible here.
Once more, the fabric ages very well.
If your budget is not unlimited but are looking for a nice Japanese fabric bound to weather well, you won’t find better.
The Unbranded Brand jeans are sold exclusively for 90 € at the Ly Adamsboutique, 11 rue Vieille du Temple, Paris.
