I'll admit, Fifty Shades of... I haven't read it! But reading the review by @LaFede_C gave me a general idea of what it's about.
My opinion is MEH! I like "light" reading as much as the next person, but who really wants to read about someone who gets tied up, blindfolded, and smacked on the ass?
Maybe I'm turned off by it because I had my fair share of spankings from getting into trouble as a child.
In any case, I do not want to lose myself in another rant. Today I propose an alternate story: "Fifty Shades of Gossip."
A few years ago our protagonist moved to a new city in search of new adventures. He was optimistic and it was easy for him to socialize with new people.
The process of meeting friends of friends led to some flirtatious encounters.
The GIQ is a bit older, charming and gallant, and has very good manners... almost too good to be true (and when something is too good to be true, it usually isn't true at all).
After building up a romantic relationship with a woman he'd met, he started to propose some alternative forms of intimacy, including... (Drum roll...)
…spanking his lover on the ass with a rolled up magazine! And not just any magazine, but the gossip magazines with the worst rumors (which to be fair, shall remain nameless).
His instructions were very precise: three specific titles were to be used according to an ascending order of frivolity that would correlate with the intensity of the spanking.
He folded the magazines and began the spanking. It did not go very well. For logistical reasons, her face was turned away from his so he could not see that she was not enjoying it, but he certainly was.
After a while she asked if they could go back to having a "normal" relationship, and so he dumped her claiming that she was too bigoted; he would not deprive himself of his desires.
So... everyone has their own tastes and everyone is free to express themselves however they choose to, but the freedom of every individual ends where another's begins. I ask that this story be DNR. Not because it is perverse (although, let's face it, the perversion is funny) but because there is arrogance in demanding the acceptance of your depravity without considering the possibility of renouncing it.
