Marie-Odile has a brother, an oenologist who also takes very pretty pictures. Marie-Odile also has a father: it is not unusual. He is a great oenologist, a disciple of the indispensable Émile Peynaud and a consultant to some of the top chateaux of the Bordeaux left bank.
The men are oenologists; Marie-Odile has chosen to create an online sales website. No, she does not offer all the great vintages at a 20% discount; there is only one site that does this and I do not recommend it. She has just started, with the help of a Brazilian friend, but it’s worth having a look.
Why?
Her father, Jacques Boisseneot, writes the sampling reviews of the wines on sale. They are clear and precise; the man does not get lost in unnecessary flourishes.
The ambition is clearly stated and measured, therefore credible.
The honesty of the site’s publishers is beyond doubt.
I like the Champagne Brut Zero from Tarlant at 23 Euros.
The site is called “De Bordeaux et d’ailleurs” (From Bordeaux and beyond). It does not mean that you will find foreign wines, just wines foreign to Bordeaux. Coming from a native of the region, this is laudable.
Click here (French site) and pay a visit to this young site; it is touching in its modesty, brave in its efforts and impressive in its rectitude. Welcome to the difficult world of the internet, Marie-O.
The picture: since I have no picture of Marie-Odile Boissenot, founder of the site, I offer you some pretty glasses. If anything, it will make you thirsty!
